Steps to take to get help with a residence permit
- Request for assistance: write to us stating that you would like to request assistance with obtaining a residence permit.
- Analysis of the situation: our employee will analyze your situation in detail:
- collect the necessary documents from the tax office;
- send your passport for translation;
- explain what documents you need to prepare for submission.
- Submission of documents: on the appointed day, you will go to the House of Justice, where you will be met with the prepared documents and helped to fill out the residence permit application.
- Status monitoring: during the review period of your application, we will check the status and promptly notify you if additional documents are requested.
- Obtaining an ID card: after your residence permit is approved, you will need a temporary registration in Georgia to obtain a binadroba (ID card). We can also help with this process.
Conditions for obtaining a Georgian residence permit through family reunification
- If your marriage was registered in Georgia, a standard marriage certificate without certification will suffice. Also, if you have Georgian documents confirming your relationship with a family member, a notarized translation is not required.
- If your marriage or kinship documents are not in Georgian, they will need to be notarized. Please contact us for information on the cost, taking into account all the details.
- A residence permit issued under the family reunification program will have the same validity period as the remaining term of the residence permit of the person with whom you are reuniting.
- You must have at least 6,000 lari in your bank account.
- You must have at least 40 days left before the end of your legal stay in Georgia (before visa‐run), and your family member’s residence permit must be valid for at least 6 months.
Who is eligible for a residence permit for family reunification
- Spouses, if one of them has a residence permit.
- Parents of a minor child who has a residence permit.
- Minor children, if one of the parents has a residence permit.
- Incapacitated or disabled persons who are under the care of a person with a residence permit and require constant care. In this case, an official certificate of incapacity is required.
Advices
- Account balance: the higher your account balance, the higher your chances of approval.
- Social media check: be prepared for your social media accounts to be checked.
- Previous rejections: if you have already been rejected, wait at least 30 days before reapplying.
- Processing time: The ideal time to apply is 20—30 days.
- To renew your residence permit, you must meet the same conditions as for the initial application. You can also apply for an extension on other grounds, with the appropriate set of documents (real estate, employment, investment, reunification, education, or other options). You can start the renewal process no earlier than 90 days before the expiration of your current residence permit.
